Sugarloaf Mountain Sunset
“The BIG One with Sunset!”
Starting at the downtown meeting point this tour takes us past Thumb Butte and towards West Spruce Mountain. The trail starts with some demanding driving and some wheels in the air a bit at certain spots. We work our way up through the Forest and always have little “windows” in the trees for excellent views of the Thumb Butte, City of Prescott, Granite dells with Watson Lake, Glassford Hills, Mingus Mountain and the San Francisco Peaks in the distance. After passing the peak at about 6700 foot elevation we go downhill on the other side of the mountain range and soon the Forest opens up for breathtaking views of the lower desert, Skull Valley and Granite Mountain. We continue to our final lookout which surrounds us by Manzanita trees as tall as the truck and other awesome desert vegetation.
After a short break, we head back up into the forest and take a small turn off to a hidden place with very old, huge Alligator Juniper trees and cactus growth. Incredible views make for a nice background while having a snack and rest a bit.
The return trip on the trail then takes only about 20 minutes back to paved road and then we head back into town.
"This was the best tour I have ever experienced. The personal engagement that T-Lo offered was outstanding."
